The Clarenville Minor Hockey Association is non-profit organization. Our Mission is to foster growth and development of young boys and girls by promoting participation in a minor hockey program that adheres to the principles of fair play.
CAMHA represents the communities within the boundaries of Charlottetown to the west, Southern Harbour to the east, Southern Bay to the North and Swift Current to the south. The Association is an active affiliate of the Clarenville Athletic Recreation Association (CARA).
Each year, in excess of 200 hundred young hockey players register in our programs.
Our Values
- We believe that through the process of skill development, team participation and respecting the rules of play, young hockey players will not only grow as athletes, but also as citizens in our community.
- We believe that hockey, at the minor age level, should be organized and played only for the enjoyment of the players.
- We believe that coaches, parents and officials should display sportsmanship, morality and ethics. As a result, they will influence the development of these behaviors in young hockey players.
Our Objectives
- To foster, improve and perpetuate the game of hockey in the Clarenville Area.
- To assist in the development of good citizenship among girls and boys by showing them the results of teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play through hockey.
- To grant equal opportunity to participate to all persons.
- To emphasize the desire to win rather than the need to win.
- To assist boys and girls to improve self discipline.
· CAMHA - Constitution and By-Laws
In the coming weeks, we will be posting stories, articles and photos from CAMHA’s past. From the early days with Baxter Tuck and the days of the late Larry Gladney and his son and ex-NHLer Rob Gladney, through to the Midget Caribous success in the Air Canada Cup in the 80s and onwards to the present day, we will provide some insight on the tradition of minor hockey in the Clarenville Area.
